Most folks that stay awhile in my home succumb to the tub only lifestyle and admit it's better than a shower. Nowadays the tub waters the garden too. I've lived in my house 30 years. Everyone tubbing it.
I live near Big Sur. Big Sur has a tub culture. The baths at Eselen are de rigueur. You either have to be rich or high on caffeine to take a bath there, though. The baths are open to students who take a week or so long course in 'warm and fuzzy' or, locals who can come in at midnight. Yes, tired, relaxed and then a 30 mile drive home on shear cliffs on a foggy night. Needless to say I have not taken a bath there since they remodeled from old cement tubs, what, 20 years ago? But crazed teenagers and the well-heeled introspective --go for it. Eselen,http://www.esalen.org/ is an ancient hot bath place you can't miss. This is a life changing bath, 3000 years of people coming here- you can't go wrong.
My older brother has the best tub. A huge round wooden tub that was built into his log cabin, near Dyer, Nevada. He lives near what the locals call the hot spot; Fish Lake Valley Hot Springs. It's also a metaphorical hot spot serving as a good pickup place. Aren't all public baths good hot spots? This one is known for it's star gazing, very remote. No links or websites...
very chill in my brother's wooden tub in the boonies
